Proposed constitution for the CIO
The proposed constitution uses the Charity Commission model for a Charitable Incorporated Organisation having a membership which can include individuals and organisations. Local organisations interested in becoming members include Friends of Milton Road Library, Chesterton Eagles Old Chesterton Residents' Association and Friends of Chesterton Recreation Ground.
The main reason for the change is to give Chesterton Community Association (CCA) its own legal identity that will enable CCA to enter into agreements with local authorities and others in its own name rather than by nominated trustees being the counterparties. It will still be a charity regulated by the Charity Commission and existing members will become members of the CIO.
